The ZNA’s mission is to defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests of Zimbabwe. It also contributes to regional and international peace and security.
To apply, you must be a Zimbabwean citizen, meet academic, physical and medical fitness requirements, and submit an application during an advertised intake. For example, for general duty soldier roles:
Minimum five “O” Level passes (grade C or better) including English and Mathematics.
Physical/medical fitness (minimum height/weight for males/females).
Age limits apply (e.g., 18–22 years for some roles).
The ZNA does not charge fees or engage third-party agents for recruitment.
Academic: At least six points at “A” Levels plus five “O” Level passes (including English & Mathematics) for Officer Cadets. Higher diplomas/degrees are an advantage.
Age: 18–22 years for A-level holders, up to 26 for those with diplomas/degrees.
Physical: Minimum height of 1.65 m for males and 1.55 m for females, weights 55 kg for males and 53 kg for females in some adverts.
Applicants must be medically fit and single in many cases.
Applications are submitted at designated ZNA Formation Headquarters or camps as listed in recruitment adverts as per the applicant’s Province of Origin. For example, venues include Kaguvi Barracks (Harare), Mzilikazi Barracks (Bulawayo), etc. Recruitment is announced publicly via media adverts.
