ZNA Training

Training is the Foundation for Combat Readiness and Effectiveness in the ZNA.

In order to fulfil its constitutional obligations, the ZNA embraces the principle that military preparedness and effectiveness is derived from robust training that is progressive and takes into account the changing dynamics of conflict. In this regard, training in the ZNA is conducted at various levels which are; unit, formation and at various training institutions. The training institutions are in two categorise, Command and Leadership and technical skills development institutions. The command and leadership training institutions in the ZNA are as follows:

The Zimbabwe Military Academy is the entry point for Regular Officer Cadets in the ZNA. The Regular Officer Cadet Course is designed to train and develop the officer cadets’ command and leadership skills by imparting requisite tactical, regimental and administrative knowledge and skills to fit them for service as regular officers in the ZNA.

Recruit Training Deport is the entry point for all Non-Commissioned Members. Training at the Recruit Training Deport is designed to transform civilians into soldiers who can operate effectively and adapt to the complex demands of the modern battlefield.

All Arms Battle School is responsible for the progression training of commissioned officers on command and leadership in peace and war time. In addition, the School is the custodian of the land and facilities that are used for Field Training Exercises. The All Arms Battle School hosted the first SADC Peacekeeping Training Exercise (Blue Hungwe) in 1996.
